Y Knot is on the cradle for the winter...I'm making a list of projects to do and one is too replace the bilge pump hose...i'm talking the longest section...from the pump in the locker...back to the bilge in the cabin under the table. I'm thinking this can't be a hard job...and that's always my first mistake.

Any previous experience in doing this job ?

Thanks,

Ron

Have you ever needed that pump? I have never seen one used. Lots of boats have sink drain through hulls above the water line, like my current boat, I think if I were going to do something about plumbing the bilge I would add a through hull above the current sink drain and plumb the sink and a bilge pump to it. My mantra is never pass up a chance to make things better. If I were sailing the great lakes I would probably have a gas fired pump with a 2"-3" hose! I wonder if there is a way to make an outboard with a PTO pump.

Sorry for not adding value to your question. BTW does your pump still work?

<< is too replace the bilge pump hose >>

Mine is a garden hose and the run is pretty easy. Getting in the dumpster and removing the connection to the back through hull is probably strenuous, but not too difficult. That has been on my list for some time now.. It's still working so I don't know why it's on the list

I've heard you never need the bilge pump, till you do.

More important than the hose is the pump itself. This pump has a (replaceable) bellows that can degrade with age. When I looked at mine it crumbled in my hands. So check it while you are replacing the hose (like Red Eye, mine is garden hose), and if you need to rebuild it, you can get the parts from Catalina Direct.
