Learning to edit GoPro video. Still need more practice....
Since it's fall, and the mast issue always comes up, I "<i>practiced</i>" on this little video I shot a while ago:

If anyone as editing tips, shout'em out. I miss WMM on XP.....

Very cool... what keeps the mast from swaying side to side (hard to tell in the picture)... but all in all very smooth... I'd be paranoid the shrouds would go in the water and get into the prop too...

The forward lower shrouds are connected to the a-frame. The mast can only move slightly side to side.

I keep the rear stay pulled in, at the beginning, you will see my left hand bringing it into the cockpit.

Unfortunately, for me, I've done this now about 1200 times.....

If I had only known, that I'd like sailing, before I purchased a house, that only power boats could get at.....

Pretty sweet setup! I like this a lot better than pivoting forward using the boom. I would not be able to go under the bridge without looking up at the mast tip every time, just to make sure I clear the bridge. Davy J you don't look up as you go under once! you must do this bridge ALOT. Glad to see that it really is that easy. I think I want a GoPro.....
Cheers,
Scott

Thanks for the tip, (Forward lower shrouds to A frame) I have been working on a way to keep the mast from swaying. Currently I place the boat into the wind on level ground. I do the mast by myself most of the time.

It's the camera you send into harms way.....
Its button controls, make me reread the manual many times....
However, I've seen TV camera crews, in Miami beach, using the little bugger, to capture video shown around the planet....

Looks like you have to remove your boom every time. Have you ever tried to figure a way to raise the boom up close to the mast, so you could lower the mast without removing it?

Also, do you have to go forward and detach/reattach the forestay every time, or is it somehow permanently attached to the A-frame?

I've always wondered why you bother to put the mast up after you come through the bridge on the way home. Why not leave it down until you go out again?

BTW, Cleveland Rocks!

Yeah, lots and lots of layers of menus on the GoPro. Every time I see one on TV I jump up and say "There's a GoPro!"

I need to get a life.

Yep, it has limited flexibility as a camera and the menus can make you crazy, but it is incredibly durable and does excellent HD as long as wide angle is ok. There is enough definition to crop a little in your editor and still be 1080 without interpolation. I love mine. I wouldn't suggest it as primary video camera, but most point and shoot through DSLR,s can fulfill your needs for more camera function. Phones work if nothing else is available, but there is a lot more to a camera than pixel count.

In low light, my iPhone 4S seems better than the last Canon camera I bought, and I thought that was pretty good! Frankly, I wonder how they do it with a lens a little bigger than a pin-head.
