Well....it's really Eagle "Creek" but that doesn't sound very impressive. A lot of people call it Eagle Ocean as there is not much water around here. :-)

I have an '81 Evinrude SailMaster 9.9

Runs fine; elect start, but no 12VDC out.

It's also about 1,500 miles too far away.

How much to ship an 80# engine?

Ken

I recently checked on the price of shipping an 8hp electric start to St. Louis from Canyon Lake. The quotes ran around $1,000+.

Derek,

Do you still have the motor? Make, Model, Year? Selling price?

GaryB - I sure do. It's a Nissan 8hp electric start, 1992. It has a Tohatsu cowling (courtesy of Dave B after we lost the original on the way to Lake Cheney for the Nationals). It was serviced last Sept and runs great. If you pick it up at Canyon Lake it comes with 3 gallon tank and hose.
I'm asking $300. I'm not sure whether it's a long shaft or an extra long.

Let me talk to the boss. I might be interested. Need a good excuse to go to New Braunfels anyway.

How does it do when backing? My Suzuki is basically useless when backing.

Do you happen to have any pictures of it? Is it close-by where you could measure the length?

Sorry for the late reply - I totally missed your post.
It does OK backing up - probably a little better than most.
Where do you want the measurement from/to? I don't have any pics.

Nobody wants to spend $1,000 to ship my 32 year old 2 stroke outboard halfway across the country?

I'm insulted!

From the underside of the motor clamp bracket to the anti-ventalation plate? Or whatever measurement is needed to determine if it's a long or extra long shaft.

I'm trying to get the marina service dept to measure it to save me a 100 mile round trip! So far I've had no success - I'll berate them on Tuesday (closed Monday).

No worries. I'm not in a big hurry with the holidays coming up anyway.

Why did you quit using it?

I quit using it because the "new" C22 already had a 4-stroke O/B

Hi GaryB - the shaft is 27" long - does that make it a long or an xtra-long?

I wonder where your guys measured from and to. 27" sounds long, I thought 25" was the extra long shaft.

Here's what Online Outboards says about measuring shaft length:

How to Measure Shaft Length

If you used it on TSU I'm betting it's a XLS.

Indy, I'm up in Chicago and have a '98 Johnson 9.9 Sailmaster, electric start, long shaft available if you're interested. Came off of a Catalina 25, runs great, selling it due to father passing. Steve

Hi GaryB,
The O/B is in the service dept. at Canyon Lake Marina (just as a place to store it!).
Let me know when you are coming and I'll meet you there. They are closed on Sunday so if you need to come that day give me a couple of days warning and I'll go put it in my trunk.

I'll have several long weekends in December and will try to plan on coming one of those weekends if the boss will let me purchase the motor (haven't mentioned it to her yet). I'll give you plenty of notice before we come.

On a Honda, the 25" spec is the "transom height", assuming a small powerboat. The actual shaft length is intended to put the anti-ventilation plate below the surface when on plane. Mine was 27.5".

Derek, Did Gary buy your motor? If not, because he (or the boss) decides against it, I am interested....
