It's good to know that they work when you need them!

It took a couple looks to notice the store worker getting launched.

I had to go back & look again to see what you were talking about. I thought you were referring to the guy in the back right, but there's the poor stocker getting slammed against the aisle directly behind the guy who pulls the lanyard.

Edit: just looked again, it's the same guy, he just gets launched through the intervening aisle full of stuff.

Watched it a couple more times and I'm beginning to think it was staged, notice in the upper right corner, a bunch of inflatable rings start falling to the floor before the raft pushes him far enough to impact anything. Maybe just a coincidence, but seems suspicious.

I vote staged...as funny as it is...why was the camera exactly/perfectly in the right place to capture the scene?

Convection current. The half-height shelf fixture gets pushed to the right. This pushes a whole bunch of air to the right near the floor. Continuity equation dictates that there would then be a return flow of air in the other direction near the ceiling. It doesn't take much to push the feather-light inflatable rings off the shelf.

I hope the guy wasn't killed or injured. It looks really severe to me.

My wife just saw the clip. She recognized it from a movie. So not a hoax, but definitely a set-up.

Real life rafts inflate MUCH slower than that.

That's a scene from the Adam Sandler movie Grown Ups 2. Just watched it Saturday.

The movie is a typical Adam Sandler movie (not that funny).

If you watch it over and over I think that's a dummy you see fly across the aisle. Near the end of the clip it appears either who or whatever it is is limp.

Laughed out loud! Felt sorry for the guy until I read it was a movie clip. Makes more sense now.
