Once I started down the path of considering repairing or replacing my main, I tried to determine the sail's age-- it may be original to the boat for all I know. After spending WAY too much time looking, I can't find any record of this sailmaker. Here is a photo showing the logo, but it's faded and difficult to read. The center is a spade, as in Ace of Spades, with the words "Trump Sails" across the bottom. Anyone know anything about them?

North Sails direct is having a show special this week for the NE boat show.
If you just need stitching or tape, there's a service here in Stratford CT called Sutton Sail Repair, Gene Sutton is the owner. 203-380-0554. I don't receive anything for endorsing Gene, but in addition to his expert repair of my genoa 2 years ago, everyone I've spoken to has had nothing but good reports.
Hope you solve the mystery...

Spent too long researching for this, so could use a bit more info.(just to satisfy my curiosity)

Do you know if the sail was originally for a C25, can you post a better pic of the logo.

Does the sail number match the boat? (hull number?)

Thanks.

Paul

Call The Donald...

Back in the 70s, a business called Trump Yachts built small ketches here in Stonington, CT. Maybe they did some sailmaking... I doubt The Donald was involved--ketches aren't exactly his style. Thanks all for the responses.

Bruce, appreciate the info on NS. I'll definitely take a look; also considering Bartlett Sails since it's nearby.

Paul, I'll get another picture this weekend. I spent a lot of time looking at hundreds of sailmaker logos, and searching the names-- all to no avail. The sail does have a C25 emblem along with the correct hull number.

John, this info would make sense. The boat has spent it's life in central Texas. If they went out of business back in the 80s, I suppose that would explain the lack of internet presence.

Dave, I did get sidetracked for a while reading about Trump yachts. Couldn't find a connection to sailmaking though.

And for some reason Donald isn't returning my calls.

From what I hear you can't go wrong with Bartlett Sails. I don't have any personal experience with them but I've read numerous threads on various sites and all of them have been very positive.

From what I understand they just moved to a new location off Hudson Bend Road at Lake Travis. Very near the Austin Yacht Club if you know where that is.

I believe that John Bartlette makes the best sails of anyone. Period!
Chuck Shaw may want to chime in as he now has a pair of them...

If there is a Doyle sail loft near you it may be the same as Doyle expanded rapidly during the 90's by buying smaller local sail lofts.
