I am pretty sure I have a standard rig because of the hight of the boom but does anybody know how to tell if you have a tall rig or standard rig? Can I simply measure the mast? or where the boom attaches to mast?
I usually recommend what Deric said, but measuring is the only way to be sure. The lower shrouds on a standard rig could be attached to the outboard hole on the chainplate and the sail bag could be from anywhere. Attach a long tape to the main halyard and hoist it if the mast is up.
When measuring mast height with the mast up you probably won't be able to get the tape measure all the way to the top (unless you climb the mast). Expect it to be a little under 30' for tall and a little under 28' for standard.
You can also measure the luff of the sail and compare it against the published P.
I didn't find the boom to be that low on the tall rig. It is high compared to a Capri 22 or any dinghy. The boom must be way up there on the standard rig (I've only sailed the tall).
