10 coats of epifanes on all exterior teak. handrails are a pain, but they sure do look good! When the snow melts this week I'm going to remove the cover, pressure wash, and put it all back on.
Todd, what are you going to rebed it all with? I am in the middle of redoing all the exterior teak as well and am getting ready to reinstall some of the pieces and haven't decided what bedding compound to use yet. Do you have any photos of the ten coats on? I love wood, it really makes the boat shine when it looks good, plus gives us something to do in the winter at home in the garage.... Cheers, Scott
I just refinished mine and bedded them with 3m 4000uv seems to be leak free after a month so far.I did order some tape from mainsail if I did it again I would give it a try.
das is a great feeling! I would need to go back to mainesail's post on butyl, but I think the butyl would go only on the bolts, and to do it right, chamfering of the holes would allow sufficient room for the butyl to squeeze out and the wood eyebrows to draw tight. I used too much before on the companionway sides and wasn't happy with the look. Fortunately, it is easy to redo and they looked great.
he shows a deck cleat where he put the ring around the bolts, and also covered the bottom of the cleat. Anyhow, I ordered some tape from amazon, and will give it a try.
