My 1995 Cat 250WB didn't come with the table that supposed to clamp around the compression post (maybe none of them did). I'm going to make one, but I'm not sure how it's supposed to attach to the compression post. Does anyone have pictures of the underside of the table attached to the compression post they could share?

Thanks

We have a C250WB 2005.

I removed the original table. I have it complete with the legs.

Does your 'coffee' table have two holes just aft of the compression post?

On JD, the 'legs' went through those holes and into metal flanges on the cabin deck each side of the centerboard trunk.

The legs are L shaped, the underside of the table has 4 plastic pieces with holes for the 2 legs. So each leg passes through two of the plastic pieces.

When in place, the legs point around 40 degrees off center (towards the galley and towards the head)

We could lift the table out of it's cabin position and mount it in the 4 matching plastic pieces that are on the aft face of the companion way just below the mainsheet swivel.

The table is sitting in my garage.

Here's a link to our new table (now several years old and I'm thinking of changing it this year... just another project )

I have a 1995 WB and the table is similar to what Paul has. A nice feature of this set up is it also has plastic pieces mounted by the center board pull so the table can be removed from the cabin and set up in the cockpit.

However, my table is sitting in my garage. The original table is just to big for everyday use. I may someday build a smaller one but for now the coffee table works just fine.

Oddly enough, the area around my compression post doesn't seem to match any pictures i can find on the net. i do not have those little flanges next to the compression post (nor a table that would fit in them.

i do seem to have little white blocks attached around the peremiter of the v-berth cut-out. which I'm assuming would allow for a table to be lowered and locked into position for the cushions to go on top off. thus extending the v-berth. i do have the cushions, so something goes there.

i'll try to get some good pictures today down at the yard. Was there a series of options from catalina with the table? something that wasn't listed in the manual, maybe a dealer option?

Why would you want to extend the v-berth? Unless, of course you are fairly tall. My table will not go down lower then table height. Did you say you do have cushions for this? Are they factory or after market/homemade?

On our first overnight cruise on JD, we used the Aft Berth, both of us had bath towels which were sopping wet by the morning (July 2005)

2nd overnight was in the V-Berth, much cooler (under the open hatch) but still sopping wet from the heat.

Installed Air conditioning.

Now it's nice and cool. On really hot nights we run the AC for a while during the night.

I made a plywood extension that slid under the v-berth cushions and extended the berth about a foot.

That made a huge difference, but was not very convenient, kept hitting my head on the front end of the table.

Removed original table and made the one linked to above.

Got it close to ideal. Henk's version is really neat, but the Admiral won't go for it, so I'm planning on a compromise. Our new table will be very narrow with larger leafs. I'm thinking of a pair of inverted leafs that will fold down to be the berth extension.

The new berth extension will be about 1 foot and the narrow table will avoid having to wear a hard hat overnight.

Here's a picture of the area

Here's a picture of the half a table i have

The cushions i have are factory made (or at least they match all the others i have, which i assume are factory)

one of them is the shape of half table i have, and the other is slightly larger and has a notch to go around the compression post.

i'm guessing there was another half a table and some mechanisms that lock the two together and then lock both to the compression post. partially supported by the collapsible legs.

if anyone could locate some pictures somewhere that show how the original version I have worked, I would appreciate it. I could just mock something up and build it, but i'd like to start from somewhere first.

Intriguing, that may be some original design or a PO's design. Either way, intriguing.

Any idea what the hook was for?

If the leg was to raise to table height, then is there a 2nd piece that the one shown hooks too?

I could imagine a 'piece' that would clamp to the compression post that would form part of the table support structure.

Adds several ideas!
