I just want to say goodbye to all the great folks on this forum who have helped me over the years. We have sold our boat, "Mysterious" navy hull, with mahogany rub rails. A beautiful 1983 that I worked on since 2006.

As luck would have it, I was working on Mysterious one day and overheard the older couple working on their boat next to me lament about how they were "done with it" and wanted to "donate it to charity." My ears perked up. Donate!? It was a 1990 Pearson 27 with inboard diesel and wheel steering. Gorgeous boat inside and meticulously cared for. And so it began. Boat selling and buying. And no they didn't donate it to me, but we got it for an incredible price. And the best news...the people who bought Mysterious belong to our yacht club and we will see her everyday. (sigh)

Well thanks again everyone. I learned so much here. I only hope there are Pearson owners out there that are as active and knowledgeable.

Cate, congrats on the 'new' boat.

How about posting some pics into a Membership Album.

I find so many good ideas scrolling through other boat pictures.

Best of luck with your new boat Cate. I understand your thinking. We used to be very active members on the Cape Dory forum when we owned one, but since selling have very rarely posted there. But I think that probably is silly because, even though we don't own our CD anymore that doesn't mean we have forgotten everything we knew about her. There may still be things we can contribute. (Come to think of it I better go check in over there.)

I too hope you stick around.

I don't intend to disparage Cape Dory owners (I was almost one years ago) or any other group, but I've never found a community that was as actively and unjudgmentally supportive of every new or prospective owner of a particular boat.

I admire Pearsons, and could easily imagine owning one, but wouldn't expect to find this.

Congrats Cate.

My wife and I have a sister ship to yours, it is a 1986 Pearson 28-2 (next size up, lots in common with the Pearson 27). I hope you enjoy the new boat, I really like our Pearson.

Congrats on the purchase and sale. We sold our C-25 2 years ago, and I still pay the dues and come here regularly. Still a bargain, lots of good ideas abound that can transfer to other boats.

Perhaps I was a bit hasty in bidding adieu. I am sure there will be questions that come up around general sailing issues that could apply to the 25-27 footers. Also I encouraged the new owners to check out this forum as I'm sure they will have questions.

Cate, congrats on the new boat. I sold my C25 almost two years ago and still check this site out daily. It's the one of the best sites for general sailing info that I've found, mostly because of the members. I just renewed my membership and believe it's money well spent. Good luck with your new boat and the new adventures it'll bring. Hope to see you lurking around here every now and then.

Same here. I hung around after I sold my C25 for a C320...after nine years, sold the 320...still here after 15 years. Good site with good info.

All the best with your P-27 -- they are great boats, one of the last in the great Pearson lineage. Regardless of brand or size, the wisdom, camaraderie (and humor) found on this site is second to none!
