Has anyone experienced difficulty in getting sail stops, pop top catches to slide freely in the mast slot? It seems that the screw size is just a hair too big for them to travel freely. I was able to remove them by coercing them down the track while carefully leveraging the slot ahead of it with a lever. The threads just appear to be a size to big to freely slide in the slot. Thank you for any advice or tips.

Mine run completely free, but I clean and lube the slot once or twice each season and any time it gets sticky.

It is possible that the incorrect size/configuration sail stop is being used on your mast but the pop top catch should be correct. So, agree with Dave regarding using the mast lube, I think they call it Sail Kote to ease up sluggish sail slugs/slides and sail stops. I wind up spraying the channel probably a few times a year mostly when the main sail becomes harder to raise.
