As a newbie to the Catalina world, I was wondering what the difference is between these 2 models. What was each designed as/for? I was looking at the TransPac site BCG-Woodbury posted and it got me wondering. Seems the 250 would be a little light for a crossing. Is the Capri design more rugged?
The 250 is a coastal cruiser while the Capri 25 is a race design. Jack (the boat in the race) has had extensive work done to it in preparing for the race and the conditions it could encounter. Personally I'd want a bigger boat and bigger walnuts. I do admire their guts and determination.
