I am considering the purchase of a used main sail on CL so first I verified my mast height which, turns out, appears to be a tall rig at about 27' 10" to the step - I had always assumed it was a SR. The seller doesn't know what rig his sail fits since he acquired it somehow and doesn't own a boat. I don't remember the story. I had him measure the sail and he tells me 27'... Well, "just under 27'" he said. My current sail is almost 4' of the step so I'm wondering what's going on here. The sail has the C25 logo and an older number- 38??

Can somebody help me out with this? I'm at work and the online owners manual is illegible. I'd like to move on this today.

Standard (P) = 24 2/3
Tall (P) = 27 2/3

Is that what you need?

How much does he want for this sail? I would feel uncomfortable purchasing a mainsail from someone who doesn't know what it goes to. A new main isn't that expensive when purchased off-season or from a LCC.

I'll also add that a Tall rig mast is 30ft. A standard rig mast is 28ft.

That's where I got screwed up. I was reading halyard lengths. Looks like I DO have a SR. So much for this purchase.

The price was $400 but comes with what looks like a poptop cover, and another sail of some sort.

Heck of a price. If someone needs a pop-top cover I'll throw in for the sails.

I'd take a look but I have no knowledge on sails, yet.

If the pop-top is from the same vintage as the main sail - it won't fit . . .

When is the cutoff and what's different?

The cutoff for the older deck style verses the newer began with the 1989 model year, somewhere around hull #5800.

They changed the position of the handrails (which changed the position of the snaps for the canvas), relocated and added halyard winches as standard equipment, and the overall shape of the coach roof.

The '89 pop top supports are shorter too due to the lowered floor.
