Just ordered a monitor for my rear view camera for the tow vehicle - from Amazon.
Received a shipping notification and did a double take when I saw it wouldn't arrive until mid January 2015. Reviewed the purchase again and it is coming from China. Glad I am in no hurry . . .
Happened to me when I ordered a soft sided cooler. Turned out to be coming from Canada. Took 3 weeks. Canadian post then U.S. customs, Import tax and finaly the USPS. Won't do that again.
I purchase enough through Amazon that I have a Prime account, most of the stuff I order (including the new mailbox.) arrives within 2 days. (The mail box was ordered Wednesday and arrives Saturday)
Of course, I'm wondering if the new mail box were to be delivered by USPS where would they put it?
You might not have noticed but there's a work action being taken by the west coast us longshoremen's union. Turns out they've been working (in good faith) without a contract for 6+ months. Since most Americans buy most of their Christmas presents from Santa Claus (who works along with his merry elves in Shanghai), the Christmas season is when the unions have the greatest leverage for contract concessions. I suspect that your extended delivery may be due, in part, to this very convoluted geopolitical kerfluffle. Ah, such is the new world order!
My wife ordered her new Subaru WRX in August, the WRX is made in Japan instead of Indiana, and got it last week. That might be the record winner. She's been a little hard to live with. The wheels and snow tires arrive Monday - it will finally be ready to go. You will understand if you've ever driven on high performance summer tires with a dusting of snow or frost.
OT She had a Forester XT as her first Subaru, then her 2009 WRX was totaled by a flooded parking lot. She was torn between a Forester, Outback or WRX as a replacement.

When the product you want does't arrive in time, then be sure to place blame where it belongs, on the union, not the company from which you ordered it.
