Sailed all Sunday afternoon with my brother... into the night watching a full moon rising. We would slowly cruise past a big house boat that had 5 Christmas trees on it .. a great day and Christmas Cheer all around.
We are really not year round, two seasons actually, fall and spring.
This was close to one of the last sailing days of this winter... and often you can't get anyone to go with you cause they think it will be freezing out.... And then the middle of Summer down here it gets so hot ya just sweat in the still air.
<< a couple of sailings over christmas and new year >>
Yepper... when we lived on the Gulf Coast the Christmas Tradition was Cave Diving... and it is still linked to Christmas to me.. The Christmas Miracle I'm still alive. I'm trying to get up the Gumption to pull the mainsail off and leave it with the sailmaker for some stitching but I just keep on Sailing in the cool breezes..
I feel guilty I didn't get a shot of that 5 tree houseboat.. It was beautiful.. almost as nice as the Star of David ( buoy )
Last year we were without the kids; they were with the inlaws. We spent the holidays at Joe Wheeler State Park, in northern Alabama, just me, the admiral, and Koko, our Black Mouth Mountain Cur (an actual breed, an east Tennessee hunting dog). We rented a cabin. Cold, but it was nice, but a VERY quiet holiday. We also went to the home place of Helen Keller, a distant cousin of the admiral. The cousins on my Mom's side of the family have tried to get in sync with staying at home and going to the inlaws. This year we'll all be here. Should be a lot of fun. Granddaughter Emma just turned 3, has cousins her age, as well as a newborn cousin. Traditionally, we gather Christmas Eve at the home of one of my first cousins, handed down from his parents, handed down from our grandparents when they lived on a farm. I just love tradition!
