This is an unsolicited message regarding the problems many of us have encountered trying to access this forum over the past few weeks... The precise diagnostic is browser-dependent, but the result is the same--nothing.
I e-mailed Webmaster Paul Alcock about this, just to make sure it wasn't only me... He replied with a lengthy explanation of how our forum software product (Snitz) is suddenly not compatible with the "upgraded" server platform we're on. I'll leave the details to Paul--just be aware that he is engaged in an extensive project to resolve the issue--something that won't be ready to roll out for a while. I simply wanted to recognize Paul for the huge effort he is putting into this--a message he's too modest to broadcast.
The cavalry is on its way!
Thanks, Paul!

I too e-mailed Paul a few weeks ago about the problem. I wasn't sure if the problem was on my end or the forums. He explained the server problem and how every time the forum was down someone had to call them and have them re-set their servers. Truthfully I am surprised that someone hasn't explained to the members what was happening until now. This has been going on now for quite some time and is becoming more frequent. Yes a big thank you to Paul!
I'll keep you up to date as we move ahead. Please be assured that right at the top of the priority list is the retention of the huge amount of data that has been input to this forum and is vital to our Association Members and Guest visitors.
We are backing up the data on a daily basis.
If you do spot the forum being down, please send me an email just letting me know. In reality, I'm normally checking it multiple times each day, but sometimes life gets in the way
By the way, even if the forum is down, the rest of the association site is probably still available. So if you access the Officer Flag Line & Staff link on its menu, you can get Paul's or any other officer's e-mail address.
So far I have built the new database and imported over 3 Million data field values. The import is now complete.
The new forum configuration does require quite a bit of work on making the site look like the previous version, but at least the forum is up and running.
Some of the posts were lost, less than 5%, as the data in those posts was corrupt, even in the backups.
Stay tuned for progress reports.

Paul, you asked for additional issues, but you locked the topic where you asked...
It appears to me signatures aren't appearing at all, except for yours and Redeye's.
EDIT: Never mind--suddenly they appeared (with the aforementioned URL issues).
EDIT 2: Oops--now most of them are gone... Weird.

Thank you for your support and understanding. This was an unplanned event, so there was no advance warning. While the forum is available, we are still working on "making it look like to use to".
Thanks for the Yeoman's effort. As I am of the technological sophistication to immediately hit "control/alt/delete" and swear like the sailor I would like to be, I do have great respect for the skill -- and time it takes to make all this work. With that, a heart felt Thank You!

Paul, Russ....just wanted to add to the earlier comments regarding our appreciation of the work you have done. The amount of time and effort invested into building and maintaining this forum from its inception and especially over the past few years is very greatly acknowledged. Thank you and well done! An extra ration of grog....
Paul & other C25 officers, board members and skippers,
First, thanks for all the effort you put into this website. It is invaluable to so many people, and I am pleased to be able to contribute. I still even learn new stuff!
Second, by keeping this forum open to ALL you provide an invaluable service to the boating community in addition to C25 skippers. I have sent many folks from other boating forums here because you're among the best.
Third, another popular Catalina boating one-design forum (not our C34s!) restructured last year to limit their website to paid Members only, a tragic mistake that they took months to correct.
Keep up the good work.

Yup--I chose a C-25 after maybe a year of lurking and asking questions here (back when this was part of Trailersailor.com). This is a great marketing tool for the owners!
Coding in signatures is working! I think we're home again!
Thanks Paul!! Next beer's on me!

Ya, ya... The thumbnails on Shutterfly are no longer accessible. The links to the larger pix still work. But I figure photos of a $+!nkp*+ shouldn't be stored in this environmentally pure venue.
Actually, I'm afraid I don't remember how I set up the thumbnail-photo links, and haven't felt compelled to figure it out again.

New quotes are being inserted correctly (ie. when you quote another reply message) but the legacy quotes (those that were in the backup that we used to restore the forum data) were corrupted.
Also all Italic and bold tags have been fixed in the reply messages.
Sooooo.... if you spot any 'gotchas' please post with a link to the page where you see an example of the error.

Hi Paul,
For some reason it says "updated August 2015" right below your signature block, and there is some strange blue shading in the thumbnail photos in your signature block. Everything else looks good.
THANK YOU for all your hard work on this!!!
edit: Having looked at the thumbnails closer, I think the blue shading is only on the middle photo. 'Looks like it might be because that photo is "portrait" vs "landscape" (or the other way around, 'not sure).
edit #2: My avatar says I am a "former" member ... my dues are paid through the end of 2015.

I updated your membership account. The Pay-By-Check members I update the website manually. I have to review the bank deposit, then update the website accounts. Your Mainsheet delivery was correct, because the same person who deposits the checks updates the Mainsheet list. We are working on improvements to this process, this time it was me.
Thanks, Russ
