I'm considering removing all interior cushions and getting them cleaned. Better to remove covers and DIY? Any problems with using carpet/furniture cleaning machine?
I washed the foam in the bathtub with laundry detergent, bleach and lemon juice.
I washed the covers in the washing machine using TSP. I have a friend who uses a furniture and carpet steam cleaner on the covers. I haven't tried it yet.
The covers don't seem to be any harder to get on than they were to get off. If the original covers have been replaced with some shrinkable fabric, it might be a problem.
I first had the covers dry cleaned, and they still had a musty smell when they came back. Laundering with TSP seems to have eliminated most of it. If that isn't adequate, I'll try steam cleaning them. Mold and mildew are very persistent.

i did the same. took each cover off and washed them one at a time in the washing machine. i left them to hang dry in the basement for a few days. putting them back on was pretty easy not much wrestling invovled. the hardest part for me was fixing all the corroded zippers. the foam parts were sprayed down with water/bleach. no noticable smells when done
