I was wondering if anyone has info. or has a Tacktick wireless depth/speed instrument? Has anyone had any experience with this brand? They seem to be pretty well known overseas, but not in the states. What do most of you all have and did you go through hull mounted or transom - and what brand/model?
I am in the process of buying electronics for my boat, but saw this and this is exactly what I would make if I were to make one myself. It is wireless, solar charged - (lasts 20 hrs on a single charge)- but most sailing is done in daylight, therefore I don't ever see this as being a problem. There is another brand - Norco - that just came out with a wireless depth sounder, but it only lasts 8 hours on a charge and isn't solar powered- bad idea. I like the wireless idea - obviously for the convenience part - no wires, no transom gluing, no hull drilling. Although most tell me this is not a big thing, it still is just more work involved for me. Any input would be appreciated.
I have a Standard Horizon MD100. It does depth, speed, mileage log, water temp & average speed. 2 thru hull fittings,a impeller and a transducer mounted in the v-berth storage area, right in front of the water tank on the C250wk.
The bottom display is a Standard Horizon WS150 wind speed/point machine.
