OK SO IT'S DREAM TIME AGAIN UNDER ALL THE SNOW HERE IN THE NORTH EAST, BUT ARE THERE ANY OF US INTERESTED IN POOLING RESOURCES AND SENDING A 25 TO THE NATIONALS? Perhaps renting a motor home and towing a boat there---In the Long Island area a motor home rental goes for about $1025 for a week /1000 miles, but deals can be made. We can use my home as a staging area--plenty of parking etc. The motor home will cut the cost of hotel/motel dollars. The 29' that I used slept 6.

So wadda ya think?

How about finding an interested party with a tow vehicle and sleeping in the boat?

OJ is based in Pittsburgh so it would only be a one day drive . . .

I think you might be overthinking it Val - Hotels 15 minutes away are running only 49 bucks a night.

I'm interested in trailering OJ to the nationals if one or two calm racing types would like to join me and share the fees. I think gas prices will be back under control by then . . .

I sure hope so Steve, or I may not bring "This Side Up" - 3,000 miles at 10 m.p.g. gets expensive at $2 + a gallon...<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle> If I don't, I'll be looking to go on a Tall Rig (I think Steve M. has expressed an interest!) I've already been on a winning Standard Rig so I'm looking for "The Double"! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Don't think I've been ignoring your offer to share expenses to the Nationals. Just waiting for the dust to settle after my suggestion to share a boat ride to the Nationals. So far it seems like you and I are the only ones interested. So what else is new?

If everything goes as is do I drive to Pittsburg and team up with you and go on from there?

Val,

The way I spell it is "Yee Ha!" I'm already in the water, and will probably go sailing next weekend, if the weather cooperates. My new fully-battened main arrived from Catalina Direct, so I'm keen to see what it will do.

I'd be interested in participating in the nationals as crew. I'm pretty calm.

Way to go Bruce....you'll love the Ullman full battened main....I 've had mine three years now and just replaced the 150% genny the last month of last season. So it's YEE HA is it? Thanks.

Well it's down to the boat now to see if the brother Brian Weeks that I spoke to Saturday conveyed my intentions to the brother Kevin Weeks who operates the lift. They sometimes don't. FINGERS CROSSED

I have a tow vehicle.

I would love to crew and I'm way calm. Have both campaigned my own boats and crewed on others' over the years. Also taught junior sailing and supervised their racing.

I think the time will work out fine for me.

Janet, if you're leaning toward bringing your own boat there will be plenty of sailors around to help commission and decommission. Else, OJ currently has a slot or two open for crew . . . thanks for expressing an interest!

How many boats do y'awl think you need?

How many have already registered?

That would be good information to know about, and might encourage others to join the festivities.

Personally I have no way to bring osmepneo to Indiana, but am interested in crewing for someone willing to commit to being there.

OJ and All,

My offer of my 97 Suburban 4x4 as a tow vehicle was a response to OJ's query. Did you find one? I live in Central New York. I haven't completed the purchase of the trailer I've found and I don't think I want to bring Allegro this year. My sails are all pooped out and in am still bringing the boat back from a long period of neglect before I acquired her.

I would however love to crew for OJ or anyone else and would welcome a ride since driving a Suburban to Indiana with one person aboard is pretty stupid.

So we're all on the same page:

I have a trailer and tow vehicle for OJ.

Looks like I76-I80 is the most sensible route from Pittsburgh to Syracuse, IN (~350 miles, ~7 hours.) Anyone coming from the east is welcome to join forces anywhere in between.

These plans are tentative pending runaway gas prices, a washout weather forecast, and/or unplanned work projects <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle> .

Sailor girl,

I initiated this thread hoping that the east coast group might join forces and take a boat along. My boat will be in the water in June but I welcome it's use as our boat but don't have the necessary stuff to get it to Indiana. If you have the pull, who has the trailor? I have the boat. It's a tall, wing, with new full battened main and never used 150% genny
