Chick-a-pea New Year

Was a good shake down cruise since she [Chick-a-pea] has been back from Lake Murray, SC.

The new CDI roller furler works great with the ball bearings. The old one just had a washer for a thrust bearing.

My LP stove igniter sounds like a mosquito now instead of doing the "pop-pop-pop". And the flame goes out when the valve is turned down. Not sure if I can fix it.

I've got a new battery ordered from WM for the handheld Uniden Atlantis 250 VHF ($35). I connected one time with Peewee, a C-22 that sailed with us, and then it wouldn't take any more charge.

The Magma grill also needs a new igniter. I bought one at Home Depot hoping it will work. If not, the Aim Flame works just as well.

I've rebuilt the Thetford Potti twice already and it needs new seals again. But they don't list those parts anymore so I've got a whole new one ordered for $126.

My solar panel wires have corroded in-two at the deck plugs. Was wondering why the voltage regulator lights weren't coming on.

And my new ship's compass has arrived in the mail. So I need to cut a larger hole in the bulkhead. Good thing is I won't need my glasses to read it.

But all 'n all it was a great time for Betty and I and our new friend David on his C-22. I had forgotten all the details of that little boat since I sold Desiderata after having her 7 years. Hard to believe I've had Chick-a-pea for 14 yrs already.

Nice videos. How are the depths in that area? According to the charts, it looks to be very shallow.

The Gulf drops about one foot per mile. You definitely want to stay inside the markers until they end. And still you'll want to keep on eye on the chart. For instance, on my trip to Alligator Harbor up by the panhandle, I was a ways offshore and suddenly there was Seahorse reef! I slowed down to an idle and made it over it.

I have rod holders on the stern pulpit seats and have trolled under sail. Caught a nice Spanish mackerel. And have caught fish on the hook (anchor). I mostly fish for reds in the tidal estuaries out of Chick-a-pea-wee, my Boston Whaler Squall, because it is too shallow for the big girl.

Yepper.. If you got far enough offshore I'd be dragging something like above for Kings.

I usta drag these with a cigar minnow...

It's easy to drag some spoons for Spanish for sure...

Your area has some sweet fishing... but that slot on the reds can be frustrating
