I'm installing two Ronstan RF6031 exit plates (Jib & Main Halyard) one on each side of my mast and was hoping to get some input on what height from the deck they should be installed.

I found this picture on the forum showing them installed fairly low on the mast but the thread didn't talk about what height limits there were.

Can you install them at about seven feet up. It would be nice to have the option to jump the halyards if needed.

I would have to agree that having them higher would be beneficial so that you can get in there the old fashion way in case of deck equipment failure. Same reason I didnt remove my mast mounted cleats and winch when I did the lines to cockpit modification. I think that as long as it's planned out to minimize friction on the line wherever possible it should be good.

I'm leaving the mast mounted cleats on the mast for the same reason. One concern I had would be if the slots I have to make to install the exit plates would weekend the mast.

You want them at least 5' up so that a crew member can work at the mast and jump the sails. 7' or higher is even better.

Make sure to stagger them so that you aren't putting too many holes in the mast at the same spot.

There isn't too much advantage to going to internal halyards on the Catalina 25. It's mostly helpful if you need more than 3 halyards, and it's hard to think of a reason to do so on most C-25s. An exception would be if you were racing, had a foil on the forestay, and were doing jib peels.
