rehabbing a 1999 WK. The table top comes off the post for storage in the v berth. There is some indication that the post comes out of the pedestal attached to the cabin. If so, it doesn't want to come off easy. Anybody have experience with this? Thanks.
Mine pulls right out, If yours hasn't been out for a few years it may need a little coaxing, try twisting and pulling, mine isn't attached to the base in any way other than just sliding in.

Yea mine pulls out, I store it under the table storage in the bow. The table lays right in there under the cover. The tube just rolls around in the bow.

If you think you can, or think you can't, pretty soon you find out your are right! H.F.
If you have a WK model, this thread is well worth reading. Creating drop leaves eliminated any need for me to ever store the table. I raise and drop the leaves several times a day whenever I'm on the boat. It's the single best mod I've done for my boat.
Be sure to read all the way through the thread to see the end result.

My table is stored at home in the attic, post stored under the V-berth.
My first season with the boat, the table stayed in place. I loved having the working area, but it was always getting in the way.
My second season, the table was stored at home. I had many times when I missed it, but it was such a pain getting it out and storing it, so it stayed at home.
That winter was when I got up the nerve to chop the table in three, with drop leaves. Best of both worlds. As you can see from the thread, I considered lots of alternative designs, including custom tables, since my philosophy was to never destroy OEM equipment due to resale concerns. However, the drop-leaf upgrade seemed like too much of a benefit to overlook, and I wasn't going to spend ~$500 to custom fabricate a new table. It has surpassed all my expectations. In addition to getting the table out of the way for access to forepeak and settee storage, it made sleeping on the settees an enjoyable experience because I wasn't constantly banging by arms/elbows/whatever on the table. It effectively doubled the sleeping options for the boat, and freed up the aft berth for storage for an inflatable dinghy, trolling motor, etc. since we no longer need sleeping space for two back there.
