Can anyone tell me the total width of their C25 swing keel? If so, can you also tell me the width of the exposed section of keel beneath the boat? And while we're at it, if you trailer, can you tell me the distance between the keel rest and the bunks? I will need to modify the trailer I bought to fit my 78 SK.

Thanks in advance,
Bert

Bert,

I have a 1979 Catalina 25 swing keel. By "width", I'm going to assume you mean port-to-starboard, not top-to-bottom in raised position. Mine is a maximum of about 6" thick near the leading edge at the lower end (aft end when retracted), and maybe 3" maximum thickness near the pivot. At the aft end, the retracted swing keel hangs about 20" below the bottom of the boat, and about 17" below at the keel pivot. That 20" at the aft end is probably the measurement you need to pay attention to when setting up your keel support cross member.

Hi Bert,

Welcome to the group!

I have a '77 swinger, hull #68. Last fall I was helping Bill Sloan with a bunch of boat/trailer measurements so he could retrofit a trailer for his swinger ... 'sounds like you are doing the same thing.

I checked through my email archives ... I've got about a dozen emails with photos and measurements saved. If you would like for me to send you those emails, let me know. Download time (unless you've got high-speed cable or DSL) will be long, but it might be worth it to you ... you'll have to decide.

If you'd like me to forward you all those emails and photos, just let me know.

Good luck!

Hey Buzz...

I would love those emails and photos. I'm having a trailer guy modify the one I bought and any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Bert
