I think my Catalina 25 has an old style CDI 4/6 furler.

I'd like to replace the line on it.

I unspooled it and I noticed that the end of the line goes "inside" the spool.

I'm terrified to take out the screws and split the spool in half in case ball bearings and springs start pouring out.

Has anyone done this before? Here are some pics...

You might be able to get CDI to send or link you to a manual:

In any case, strap a box under the drum before you take it apart. I don't know why there'd be any springs in there, but stray balls are a possibility.

Good news, I got it sorted out. After seeing these images of the manual I had a solid panic. lol.

But when I opened it up, it was dead easy... other than battling a spider nest.
