Quieter than my air-cooled Honda 2! (So is everything else, including my 225.)

I loved the Honda outboard on my C250, and would buy another Honda in a second....except for 2 hp model, because of its noise.

I loved the Honda outboard on my C250, and would buy another Honda in a second....except for 2 hp converted weedwhacker that they label as an outboard.
I like my converted weedwacker...lightweight, air-cooled (no flushing or impeller issues), enough power to get my Capri in and out of her slip, and I can't hear it when the sails are up
Glad you found a local guy that's willing to deal. I do prefer trying to buy local. We have two in our area that sells small outboards. Bought one from each, won't go back to one of them. Don't trust the service side, everything is a fuel issue. I think he repairs, sends into manufacturer for warranty, tells you it was fuel so he can charge you as well. The Marina i work at bought four Tohatsus, 2ea 3.5s and 2ea 6hps at the same time, used the same fuel, did the same maintenance, but one of the small ones would just die after it warmed up and would not restart. They kept telling us it was a fuel issue and charging us to "fix" it. Brought it to the other dealer for service, they immediately diagnosed as a crack in one of the electronics and replaced under warranty.
Sorry, I shouldn't have made the weedwhacker comment. Air cooling has some clear advantages, and some disadvantages like noise. Everyone prioritizes them differently based on their specific needs. My local Honda dealer, who is GREAT, shared the weedwacker comment, but I shouldn't have repeated it.

There's nothing lighter or simpler in the 4-stroke category than the Honda 2 (now 2.3--they apparently added a turbo-charger). You could surround it with a circle of every other outboard Honda makes (5-250 hp), start them all up, and all you'd hear is the 2. But it's sure nice not to be cooling with salt water!

I've had good experiences with Online Outboards (the 9.8 for our C-25 and two smaller ones I purchased for our yacht club) and will use them again, but they are also very close to my home.
