I'm looking into installing a relatively inexpensive depth finder. I'm looking at the Hummingbird HDR-600 and the Uniden MD 260. Has anyone had experience with these? Namely, are they good values and do they work well? The HDR-600 has an off-set feature which would be handy. I did check e-Bay and there were a number of these types on the market in addition to the marine supply sellers like Defender. Thanks for any advice.

I've used Humminbird products on my fishing boats and have been generally pleased with them. I can't comment on that particular depthsounder model though.

If you intend to stay out on the water overnight be sure to get a depth sounder with 'anchor watch' features (high/low alarms).
