Hi folks,

Inspired by a news story I read the other day about the actor Bruce Willis I hatched a plan (Oh no, not another one of Frank's schemes)
It seems he bought about 10 or 20 thousand boxes of Girl Scout cookies and sent them to our troops in the mideast. I thought, what a guy, doesn't sound like the usual Hollywood type.

So I asked the C22 discussion troop how I could support our troops, and send them some cookies myself. This was after several French jokes were circulated, some contributed by me, and the resultant backlash came. I then said I would refrain from poking fun at the French and that I would redirect my anger into something positive, thus sending some cookies myself.

One of the C22 list members sent me an address of a friend of his at an undisclosed location in the Gulf who is a Major. He has sent the major cases of cookies, and books, and the major then hands them out to his troops. What a great way to directly support them, without large organizations taking a cut of the profits, if you know what I mean. (Don't get me started on the Red Cross, or United Way)

So today I bought a case of cookies for 36 bucks from the girl scouts (and their cute mothers) in front of Kroger. They recommended peanut butter as maybe being better in the sun. Shucks, thin mints are my favorite, but what a chocolate mess they would make in the desert. I'll mail them out on Friday as I should be able to get out of the hospital early that day.

The guy who gave me the major's address said I could give it out to a friend if he/she wants to send something too, but didn't want it out in general publication. So if anybody wants to cheer up a GI (no matter what your views, pro or con, they still are in harms way and probably have a rather high pucker factor) I'll send you the address. Out of respect for the person,please respect his wishes.

Next week I'll go to Sams and get a big container of Atomic Fire Balls and some mints and box them up and send them too. Also send some of my sailing back issues. I figure even one minute's of diversion from their situation will make it all worth while.

Frank,
You may not have been a part of this forum long enough to know about some of the hornet's nests we've created here. It gets pretty hilarious at times! But I respect your hesitancy about sharing them with semi-strangers.
