Don't know if many of you have run across this site http://www.sailingissues.com/navcourse1.html before. It has some interesting discussions on navagation, charts, tides, plotting, positioning, piloting and compasses. It also throws in a little history and examples with the math worked out and explained (for you math challanged). In all it has 9 chapters and good graphics
