Summer Sailstice - June 24/25, 2017

I wanted to make everyone aware of the Summer Sailstice on June 24/25, 2017.
The Summer Sailstice program is to promote sailing events in your local area.
Anyone can create an event and invite other sailors to join.

There is a Summer Sailstice website where you can “register” and “post” your event.
That being said, this notice is being posted as a “courtesy” to all forum readers.
Our association has no “sanctioned” events and has made no donations to Summer Sailstice.
Also, Catalina Yachts has not contacted our association regarding their involvement or sponsorship.

Now the legal stuff is out of the way, here’s what I know about Summer Sailstice 2017.
Summer Sailstice was started in 2001 on San Francisco bay, by John Arndt from Latitude 38 magazine.
Over the past 16-years it has grown to include nationwide free events.

I received an email from an association member that they enjoyed a Summer Sailstice event for the past 2 years.
If you or your sailing club would like to create a local event, please review these links.

Notice: There is an “article” about Catalina Yachts, but it’s not sponsored by them.
This can be misleading.

If anyone has experience with Summer Sailstice, please post your reply here.

I've been a member for at least the past 5 years. I've led a sailing effort in Milford and Stratford among local boaters. I recently received the email encouraging me and fellow Catalina sailors to take part in Sailstice in 2017. I thought it was strange because it was not sponsored by the Long Island Sound Catalina Association.
I've been promoting a local raftup in Milford and New Haven Harbors on the weekend of June 24. We shall see whether there's an appreciable turnout.

I register and post a trip on the Sailstice site, but it's never been picked up by others...

Jerry - pls let me know where you plan to go. Good news is the week of June 25 starts off the week before the 4th of July weekend. If you set it up right you can have 11 days off in a row! I've already warned my manager...
