I finally got through to Catalina direct tech support to discuss the ordering of the wing conversion kit. The word was that although they present the kit in the C25 owner's book they will not in fact sell the kit. The shipping quote would be over $700. C.D. advised that should I still want to do the project I would have to buy the kit through a catalina dealer who could piggyback the keel with a regular boat shipment. Having now talked to the nearest catalina dealer (Freeman-Eckley)in Vermillion OH, It looks as if it will be darn near impossible to get the wing kit let alone have it installed. The yard where I was going to do the work myself is not where the keel would be and the yard where the keel will be does not allow owners to work on boats in slings. These developments raise the cost of the project significantly, and have caused me to rethink the whole thing. Has anyone had any similar problems? It looks like I'm going to have the swing keel repaired and restored rather than converted.

What a crappy deal!

Would it possible to have the kit delivered to the Catalina dealer's yard, pick it up there with some one's pick up and deliver it to the yard you had originally planned to the do the work in? Sounds like a plan to me! But what do I know!

I agree with Don

Pick it up from the dealer in a U-haul with a ramp. Flat dolly it in the truck haul it to the yard you are going to do the work take the truck back. A 1-day rental for a small U-haul box van in my area costs about $59.00 plus gas. That's not that much more.
