Replacing (purchasing in advance) spreader boots and have not dropped the mast. What is the dia. of the spreader on the cat 25? (e.g. 1", 1 1/2")

Scurvy Six,

The spreader tubes on my 1979 C-25 #1460 measure 1-1/4". Don't forget to safety wire your uppers into the spreader tips.

Leon, thanks for the quick response, however a few minutes late. (Funny Story) I was bidding on the following ebay item with 6 minutes left on the auction when I was able to register and make the post on this forum:

"You are bidding on NEW Spreader Boots; for up to 1" round spreader and 1/4" shroud."<b></b>

I figured I had a 50/50 shot at the boots working, so I made a bid and won the darn things. I quickly returned to the forum only to find your response. Missed it by a 1/4".

Scurvy Six,
Several boots I've seen cover a range of multiple sizes. As in from 1" to 1 1/2". So They may still work. They provide chaffing protection for your sails. So even if they come up short for the spreader tube diameter, you can still use them wrapped with friction tape.

Scurvy, I used the friction tape and then applied a thin film of silicon caulk on the tape. The previous tape would weather and then begin to unravel, so far the caulk has worked well,
