Folks, I decided not to be so cheap and just bought a NEW 250WB. I take delivery on the 2nd of May and will be having an 8HP Honda w/25" shaft mounted by a local Honda marine dealer. Does anyone have any strong thought as to where the optimum place for the Morse controls (throttle) should go? I have been toying with the idea of mounting them directly under the tiller rather that the usual side position. I thought I would wait until I saw it to decide but it seemed like it might be more out of the way.

I have a 9.9 Honda . The throttle is on the handle of the motor. It is easy to access and easy to remove for servicing.

Same here. Honda 9.9.......Initially thought I couldn't live without the remote but had to wait due to time constraints.....after using the motor the way it is, the remote is off my list. Less holes, less clutter, less stuff to break, and more money for other things. (Like the drifter I just ordered from Ullman-Ventura....you NEED that)

You might want to try it in basic mode first........

Unless you have wheel steering...and just want the controls on the pedestal so as to remain standing... I agree with the others, the tiller handle in the up position (only place it can be) makes the throttle, starter and shut off switch almost as convenient as a remote and the shift lever is not far either.

The turning can be made to go to 35 degrees by cutting off a bit of aluminum...so there is little need for the extra cost of the remote motor. Those boat units could be used for something else and when buying new...there are many something elses.

You're not kidding........then again I've also bought used, and after you clean out the thing, throw half the stuff away you still go out and buy lots of something elses....at least when you buy new there's no organisms included in the deal....
