Easter bunny gave me a whisker pole, complete with padeye. Now I know some of you have done all the necessary laboratory testing, so I'm going to save myself the work, and use the wealth of experience available on this forum. (That's what it's for right?)
How far above the mastfoot does the eye go? It's for the standard 110, and the Ullman reacher/drifter. Pole is the 6-12 footer. I guess we don't want to interfere with the internal halyards right? Screws? Rivets? Threaded bolts?
Thank you in advance.
I think this has been stated before. You won't need a pole for the Ullman drifter. If yours is cut like mine the clew is a high cut. I don't have a 110% so I'm guessing here. If you intend on using the pole on both sails the clew on the 110 and the clew on the drifter are totally different as far as height goes. So I'm thinking you would need a track to adjust the "padeye".
I have mine mounted for use with the 135% only. I do not have the measurement I did the leveling thing and came up with the height that way.
I also think the pole will be to heavy for the drifter to let the light sail cloth fill properly. .
I just got a whisker pole (7-17)and pad eye too. My 250WK had a 150% so I have decided on this pole. Oscar, here is a link to the previous discussion on the forum. I found it helpful.http://www.catalina25-250.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2123 I plan to install mine today.
I installed the Ronstan ring with a pop rivet gun (stainless rivets from BoatUS) Predrilled holes. You can see in the photo the height I placed ring on mast. This by the way does not interfere with lines inside mast. I use the ring right now for wing on wing with my 110 jib. Good Luck! (man, the easter bunny just left me a small chocolate bunny, what a jip!!)
I got the lighter pole.....in pre-meditated violation of Forespars guidance........when it gets windy I roll er up and sail the main, like a Laser, pull up the board a little and go...... I just didn't want to add a big pole to the gear inventory.... I believe Gary is indeed sending me the 1/4" sheets with the drifter.
