I took the boat up to parsons marine in Vermillion OH last weekend and had them pull the keel. As I have mentioned in other posts the keel would not extend all the way making the boat point poorly. CLR was too far aft for sailing to windward. I thought for a while that I would switch to the wing keel refit, but that proved to complicated and expensive. The Yard men found something blocking the upper end of the trunk. from the inside everything was sound so they ground enough off the keel, just enough for it to clear the obstruction. Now the keel extends all the way, and I will pick it up tomorow. I'm out about 3 1/2 boat units, which is less than I thought I would have to pay. While doing this we replaced the cable, turning ball, riser pipe, hanger, hanger bolts and turning pin. I'm happy now that I have a refurbished keel that is safe and functional.
