Are there any other Catalina-ites here from the Charleston or other Carolinas areas? Anybody know of any owners groups in these areas?

Hi, We bought our boat in Charleston last year. We motored up the ICW to the boat's new home in Southport, NC. There are two other C25's here, plus an assortment of other size Catalinas. Welcome!

I have lived in Charleston for the past 6 years. I have owned a FK 25' tall rig (Slowly but Maybe) for the past 3 years. The boat is perfectly suited for sailing in Charleston harbor and offshore. I keep my boat at the Cooper River Marina, about 3 miles above the Cooper River bridges. We had a nice 4 day trip early in March of this year. We sailed out of the jetties and proceeded off-shore down Morris and Folly islands. We anchored up inside the mouth of the Stono river in a perfect anchorage. We spent two nights on the hook there. The next morning we awoke to 42 degrees and heavy rain. We also had a problem in that battery # 2 had a dead cell, and was just about gone. Our battery power was too low to stay another night, so we motored several miles upriver and spent the night at the Stono Marina (spartan at best, but the hot showers were a lifesaver, and the restaurant was fair). The next morning we motored further up the Stono, and took Elliot's cut into the Wappoo river, and from there back into Charleston harbor. We then sailed on one tack 4 miles back to the marina. All told, we covered about 50 miles, half of which was under sail. It was an amazing trip. I look forward to hearing more about your sailing in Charleston.
