For years I used bleach and detergent when cleaning the boat. This year the marina is a little more focused on eco-friendly cleaning. Since Noeta is in a slip right in front of the marina office, I decided I'd try to avoid sudsing up the water this year.
Used a mixture of water, vinegar, and ammonia with a little baking soda. It actually worked pretty good. I still soaked my lines in some bleach & water, but every thing else got the vinegar. Cleaned well, almost no odor, and there was no suds or sheen on the water. Also, since there was no bleach, my hands looked better and my clothed all survived. Not as cheap as bleach, but a heck of a lot cheaper than some "marine" eco- cleaner.

I use Ivory liquid soap to clean the decks. It is phosphate free and biodegradable.

Additionally, it's cheap(especially when compared to marine products) and it cuts down on space requirements because it is multifunctional. It can be used for decks, dishes, washing hands, cleaning interior surfaces, bucket laundry,...etc. As an added bonus, it will leave your hands nice and soft after scrubbing the decks.
