The plastic C-track from which the folding head curtain is suspended on "Even Chance" ('85 SK/TR) is cracked, so the hangers keep falling out. I ordered new track from Catalina Direct, but they sent me this weird narrow stuff that bears no relationship to the original (which is about 3/4" inch wide and brown. . . the hangers are hourglass-shaped nylon).
I have been to a dozen home improvement stores looking for the same sized track without success. Lowe's, for example, sells the track with a bifold door kit, which means that I'd have to spend $ 50.00 for ugly doors just to get 19 inches of track.
I've also tried to fiberglass the old track without success. Surely someone out there knows where I can get replacement track. . . maybe?
When I bought my boat, it didn't have a door between the salon and the head, but there was a track there. I have since sewed curtains to replace the doors, so I removed the track.
I just looked all over the place, and I can't find the old track here at home. Maybe it is at the boat, or maybe I threw it away ... I can't remember. I'll be going to the boat later this week, and I'll look for it there. If I can find it, you can have it.
I don't know if it is the track you are looking for. It was mounted on a piece of 2" X 4" ... I doubt that is the way Catalina built it at the factory! It might have been put there by a PO, and it might not be the kind you need.
If I find it, I'll take a photo so you can see what it looks like ... I'll let you know.
'Found it! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I had put it in a pile of sewing stuff.
It is 20 5/8" long, and the track is C-shaped (the long side of the "C" screws to the ceiling, the open channel faces the cabin floor) ... here is what it looks like:
BTW, in the photo the open channel is facing up. If it looks like it'll work, email me your mailing address and I'll mail it to you: buzzmaring@aol.com
Does anyone else have that same piece of track available? I fought with that track all of last year, and I finally looked closer at it, and the "door" keeps falling out because that track is cracked and doesn't hold the glides in. If anyone else has one, I'd love to talk with you about it! Thanks!
