Just wondering if anybody had advice on cruising a Cat 25 around the Puget Sound area? We will be moored at Shillshole and looking for day trips plus overnighters.
Thanks.

I know I repied to this post. Came back later and both the one reply already here and mine are gone. Whats up ???

Go over to Blake Island and do the Salmon dinner and Indian show. Not cheap but worth seeing. I recomend it. Sail south five hours to the South tip of Vashon and then North into its harbor. 2/3 of the way up it will dog leg East. In the corner is a county park called Dockton. Hot showers and a good spot to overnight ($12). Depart there for Point Defiance / visitors dock next to the ferry dock and have a nice salad at Anthony's Home Port resturaunt. Walk along the path behind the resturant to Owens Beach and back. Depart and head west for Gig Harbor. Watch the entrance and the shoal on the light house point side . North side. Enter from the south going north dont cut the point close. Once inside you will find an old fishing port witha main street full of stores coffee bars and lots of sceenery. Public dock 1/2 way in on the left, hard to miss. Again about $12 a night. Walk up the dock turn left and walk to Tides Tavern our area's best known shoreside pub/bar. Great food fish and chips or pizza are home made. Good micro brews and souvenier T shirts. When going north to Seattle from this area remeber Colvos pass on the west side of Vashon always flows north no mater what the tide is doing. If you decide to go through the narrows into south sound remeber to stay on the west side close to shore. Its easy in either ebb or flood. Once through go past Fox island on the right and then go west to Penrose Point. This place is my all time first choice in the south sound. If you want to go to Tacoma there is a visitors dock just inside the Foss waterway on the right side. You can walk to the glass museum or maritime museum and The Dock a close by Bar/ eatery. Check out this site for more info and referance charts of each harbor www.nwboating.com

Doug,
Sounds good. I am taking my wife out on her first sail trial this Sat. on the Cat. 25 we are hoping to buy. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she does well. It would be a pleasure sailing with you in the future.
