Hi all!
As you all know, the nuts and backing plate for the Catalina 25 and some other Catalina models are completely inaccessible.

I've made a webpage with pictures detailing how to repair or replace the upper gudgeon easily, here's the url,

My sailing classes are getting popular, I use our Catalina 25 and my Flying Scot for the class and students really enjoy both.

Nice Website David,

What year is your Catalina? I just finished the same job on my 89 wing. Our cockpit liners are different. Yours appears to have a plywood core. Mine is just plain 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick fiberglass. I had to use a rotozip instead of a jig saw as I wouldn't have had much clearance for a a blade stroke.

The thickness of that part of the cockpit liner is interesting to note. When I put an access port there on my '82, it was about 1/8" fiberglass I was cutting into. I had to add epoxy to the back just so the screws had something to bite into.
