Saw a 4-cycle 5HP Briggs & Stratton OB at the local small engine dealer yesterday. Checked the B&S website and it weighs 56 pounds and it is recommended for freshwater only. Price was well under a grand and it appeared to be a 20" shaft. Comes with a 2 year warrranty and there's plenty of service centers that don't know how to double labor costs for "marine" applications. Anybody have hands on experience with this puppy?
Dennis, I checked the price locally last month and it was/is $729. One concern we had is how noisey is this machine? I know the amount of noise a lawnmower makes and sure don't want something that loud on my transom.
That is interesting! A four stroke that weighs 56lbs. It's a little underpowered for a C25 and it could use a couple inches in length, but still quite interesting.
