I may have blown it. I raced last Saturday in my little 13' Banchee. Took the Magellan 315 GPS with me and strapped it to the daggerboard well. Between races I set it down on the bottom to hide it from roaming eyes and darned if it didn't get wet. I was under the understanding that these units were water proof or least water resistant. Well there is visible moisture in the display and it won't turn on. Does anybody know if it is possible to open the unit up to dry it and is there a fuse that may have popped. If not does anybody have a service number handy? My manual is at the boat and I won't be getting to it any time soon.

Thanks John for the link. I need to get used to thinking of the net as a resourse. I am sitting on hold as I type this post with Magellan Support.
Matt, That is wonderful, 2nd place is terrific considering the handicap you had with me on board for the one race and no throw outs. The wind was definately stronger on Sunday. I didn't need to sweep the walk ways after mowing the lawn. Congrates.
Just got off the phone with a very nice gentleman tech at Magellan. He told me that if the unit had been less then 1 year old it would be replaced. Mine is 2 years old. The bad news is the cost of repair is going to be too high to warrant. The good news is that if I send the old unit in as a trade in, I can get the latest models for about half price. Send in the power cable and they will send me a new one for half price. So it looks like the unit is cooked.

Ed, You might want to think of Google as a verb. As in “Google Magellan 315 and see what you find”. I "Google" everything and have pretty good results.
