Hi all,

I posted on the general section (should have been here) about the unfortunate situation with my swing keel. I'm considering doing the swing to wing conversion. Can anyone tell me who to call and the phone number so I can get the process going? I'm not 100 percent sure I'm going to go this route, but it's looking more and more likely. I'd prefer the wing anyway, but I wish I could have done this in the winter.

Thanks,

Ben

Ben, wonder if you would care to share any info you get from your call to Catalina regarding swing to wing conversion. I have an '85 C25 swing that isn't in current need of converting but it is on my list of things to look into sometime in the future. First thing is some creature comfort upgrades, i.e. a bimini, internal halyards leading back to the cockpit, cockpit cushions, shore power and maybe some new sails but the swing to wing is still on the list.
Thanks in advance for any information you can share on this subject.

Hi Ray,

I called Catalina Yachts parts department and was quoted a price of $1,750 for the wing keel conversion kit. When I asked, they said they would be able to ship the unit piggy-back style on a boat shipment to a Catalina dealer, as long as the dealer was okay with it. So I called Freeman-Eckley in Vermillion, who I had been talking to about doing the installation. The guy I talked to said he didn't think it would be a problem but that he would be able to let me know early next week, at which point I would be able to get a more firm quote.

Hope that helps.
