I have a 5 year old roller furler made by Hood Yacht Systems, their Sea Flex model. I have really been impressed with this unit but the drum cover on mine has gone swimming several times over the years. Hence I have gone swimming several times! This past week I let the furling line overwrap and then later pulled it back out a little too quickly and the line knocked the cover off the boat. This time I was motoring in about 20 feet and decided that I wasn't swimming this time. When I contacted Hood about ordering a replacement I was informed that the design had been updated to prevent that very problem and that they would send out a new drum kit with manual...<font size=6><b>FREE OF CHARGE.</font id=size6></b>
In this day of minimal customer service I feel compelled to report excellent service. So if you are looking to purchase a roller furler I would suggest a look at Hood Yacht Systems products. They have shown me that they stand behind their products.
