I stopped at Catalina Direct on the way home from work and picked up a keel cable and turning ball. With the boat on the trailer in dry storage, the keel end of the cable is not accessible. I figure I will need to lift the boat about a foot to drop the keel enough to do the cable replacement. Anyone have a suggestion as to the best way to accomplish this? The trailer is a roller type (not bunks) with 64 rollers arranged in 4 groups of 16.

I would jack up the trailer, block the boat, and then lower the trailer back down. If you can borrow or rent jack stands from your local marina they would come in handy. An alternative would be to build a gantry around the boat so that you can use a sling and hoist the boat up, but this method should not be used unless you have access to rigging equipment and are knowledgable about lifting.
