Hi there,

The DPO of my 89 WK disabled all of the plumbing. My broker said that he didn't want to chance anybody ever drinking out of the system. All of the supply piping has been removed, even the 3" cover cap of the water tank is gone. I hope CD can get me a replacement. While pondering this next job I seem to remember someone saying he got rid of the forward, bathroom sink, saying you really didn't need it. I tend to agree. I thought a flat shelf might be more usable, furthermore the area underneath might be a great place to mount a CD player through the bulkhead. If I can find some thin teak plywood to top off the countertop that would be nice, or maybe some formica.
any thoughts out there on the subject?

I removed the sink and cabinets and the most forward bulkhead. The V berth has been reinforced and the potty as well as the woodwork around it is gone.

The aft bulkhead between the port lazarette and the quarter berth(s) has been removed.
The cabin table (L shaped variation on a traditional interior) has been removed.

I plan to seal the poptop down (remove that lousy hardware) and move the sheet lines over the cabintop so I can extend the bimini from the stern to the hatch.

Then .... with all that wonderful room down there, who knows what it will look like a year or two from now?

My 79 SK TR was missing the cap for the water tank also. I searched everywhere to no avail. Then one day I thought, gee this plastic cap on this here Gatoraide bottle looks about right.

Perfect fit.

The really big Gatoraide Bottle, about a gallon size.

I took out the top and replaced it with a stained and varnished piece of finished one sided plywood (used the old top as a template). I then added a teak slat on the front of the opening as a stopper. Using the bottom as a storage area and the top is where we keep folded towels.

I, too, think that two sinks within arms reach is a little much for a rather small boat. My boat has the open closet/cubby hole instead of the vanity sink and it is used for stowing both foul weather and life jackets.

Heck, the teeny galley sink on my boat is nothing more than a receptacle to hold my cell phone, pager, keys, and wallet. As a matter of fact, we don't use any water from the tank, it is only filled for the ballast. We use baby wipes or waterless soap to wash our hands.

So my vote is to lose the sink.
