I have been in the process of installing the remote to my 2002 honda 9.9, with little or no problems. My trouble has been having the time to get out to the boat to actually finish the job. The way the remote hooks up to 2002 is different than the way it works on the older model years. What year and model honda do you have?
if you go on to the website of the manufacturer of your motor, you can usually find a link that says "find a dealer" then call them and see if they carry he remotes. they can usually give you good install tips.
A remote control? So I can sail my boat from the shore? Very cool You could step out of a marina restaurant, back your boat out of a slip across the harbor and have it pick you up at a dock next to you. But I'd probably crash it the first time...like I did with my glider....
Remote control... hmmm.... so why stop with the motor? Rig the winches and rudder too.
Would be interesting to sail your boat from the dock, might get a lot of odd 'looks' from passing boats. Of course, you'd better not sail out of radio range.

Gary I thought the same thing when I first read Clam Beach, however have graduated from Cal Poly, SLO I know that is Pismo Beach. Clam Beach is up on the North Coast.
By the way, I often will sail while leaning up against the forward end of the cockpit. The bimini provides shade there. I will use the remote provided by Autohelm and get some interesting looks as the ski boats go by.

Clam Beach (Calif) is about 40 miles South of the Oregon Border. It got it's name from it's population of highly prized Razor Clams.
Recently, a local river mouth has moved closer to the beach, changing the composition of the sand and the clam population is decreasing.
Not much tastier seafood than deep fried razor clams.. except fresh Dungeness crab, Halibut, Barbequed King Salmon, grilled Oysters... heck... I guess I like it all.

osmepneo came with a remote control on the Honda 8. It was remote only for shifting, and did not include a throttle adjustment. Since I had to reach down to the tiller to adjust speed, it seemed awkward to then sit back up and shift gears and reach back down to change speed again. I disconnected the remote and haven't used it. Much easier for to it all while I reaching over the transom.

Ed, what a coincidence...my son, Daniel, will be starting at CalPoly SLO this fall. Aerospace engineering And then next year my daughter, Michelle, graduates from high school and will be off to college somewhere in journalism. Once they are finished, my wife and I will be free to haul the C25 all over the state so our thought is to move upstate somewhere near the delta but up in the foothills area to retire. 6 years max. (I hope) Thought about Don Pedro or up at Folsom. What's your thoughts on good places to settle when retiring in the area?
BTW, the remote control for the Honda motor sounds like a good one. Would be nice to see photos of this "add-on" from someone who already has it done. Maybe a Tech addition?
So Bruce (of Clam Beach, 40 miles S of OR border)....where do you sail / slip your boat? In the Eureka harbor area? We have been to the marina there many times and have noted several C25s of various vintages. Last time there was last summer. We'll be back!!!
Ed, and Bruce: I looked on my map of the SLO area and there is a place called Shell Beach, which I erroneously (with advancing age) mistook for Clam Beach....close
Gary, In my immediate family there are 11 Cal Poly grads. I came out as an Industrial Engr. That's why my spelling is so poor. My wife's grandfather graduated from the school way back some where around 1918 when it was still just a two year agricultural school. My oldest graduated from Cal Poly just last year and my middle daughter (who is starting her senior year of high school) is considering. They should name a building for us or something!!!
As for your question about retirement. Any community above the fog line in the Sierra Foothills is very attractive. The winters are fairly mild because you are below the snow line (about 3,500 ft) and above the valley fog(about 1,000'). The homes near Don Pedro are right at that magic fog line. Folsom is still pretty low and of course very close to the huge population of Sacramento. Each has it's own strength.
And by the way, congrates on your son getting into Cal Poly. We will pray for his success.
