Anyone have measurements of dimensions for single backstay on a standard rig Cat25 (prior to 1988)? I ordered one from Catalina Direct and they sent me a defective part (too long, unless I'm going for that cool forward mast rake :) ). I think I'll just have the local rigging shop build one.

Thanks!

According to the manual on this site (original) it's -
Single Backstay ------ 3/16" 1x19 ------ 32' - 3"

(newer)
32' - 7 1/2"

I don't know what year the split between original and newer is though.

Best thing is to take it off and measure it just to be absolutely sure.

Doh, RTFM, eh? Very helpful, John, thanks. I belive the split from older to newer was around 1987/1988. Mine is definitly older at 1980.

I also see that the mast spar length is 28'0", so if I can verify that length on my boat, then the original stay length should probably apply.

Unfortunatly, the backstay that was on my boat (a fixer-upper) was not correct. So I don't have the option of removing and measuring.

Thanks again.

Many rigging suppliers will only build stays with the old ones in hand due to differences in terminal designs/suppliers, or, they might accept your exact measurement between terminal eye centers.
