My vessel has a plastic skylight in the flat V birth area forward of the hatch. I just reacquired the boat. However, the interim owner may have stepped through or dropped something that broke the skylight. I find nothing like this in the Catalina Direct Catalog. I have looked for deck prism, light, window, skylight and everything that I could think of. I had the boat hauled then left town - have not had a chance to look into disassembly.

Was a skylight among the options in 1983 or perhaps custom? Where would I likely find this item?

I will likely go for the Lexan. There is a plastic shop about five-miles from home that sells and fabricates from all sorts of transparent and translucent plastic.
