Hello,

Any recommendations of who on the west coast could inexpensively cut
down a tall rig main to a standard rig main?

Do they cut from the bottom or top?

Thanks,

Mark,

Can't tell you who can do it in CA, but any sail shop should be able. I just had this work done here in NW Florida at Sabre Sails. Cost about $175 for them to take about 2' off the top. They put on a new head board, tapered the leach from the first batten up, and added a leach line for that price.

Now the boom clears the bimini and I don't have to sail all summer with a reef in the main.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look around for a fair priced loft to have this done.

Mark,
Wander down to your local (Stockton?) West Marine and pick up a free copy of "Latitude 38" (ask for it, they kept it behind the counter last time I was in there). In it you will find lots of adds for sail lofts in Nor Cal.
