Folks I have been trying to determine what it is thats sounds like an electric bilge pump running (I don't have one) when I go below while the boat screams across the bay. My current theory is it is some odd noise created by the centerboard. Anyone else experience this?

The rudders on my Hobie 16 used to hum. I filed the trailing edge down to more of a knife edge, and it stopped. Go figure....<img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

I agree with Ocsar.

I don't have a wb but I was a kid on my dad's Chrysler 22 swing keel and it had the swing keel cable hum.

I don't have any idea of what the WB configuration looks like, but it seems like if you changed the tension (and resonate freq.) of the cable to one that isn't excited by the water flowing past it, that would solve it.
