I removed my 3rd gen rudder and put the 2nd gen on to compare the two. I noticed that there was a line of cracked jell coat running from the lower pintail down to the step in the leading edge.
Has any one gotten a response from catalina about the problem? I'm wondering if I should dig out the cracked jell coat and replace it with marinetex.

Here is a link to a discussion on 3rd gen rudder gel coat cracking that took place last month.

The second post talks about getting a replacement rudder after the 1st one had a gel coat crack.

I've had my 3rd generation rudder on since the end of March and I noticed about a month ago a 3 inch long crack in the gelcoat on the leading edge between the pintle.

I have the same problem. I've been told to send it to Catalina and they'll fix it, or to stop by their factory, either in LA, or St. Pete Flolrida.

They are aware, and they'll fix it. Question is, once again, did they test it before they put it out there?
